Knee replacement surgery is a reliable and reproducible
operation that has helped millions of patients walk with less pain. It
has helped patients stay independent and live longer more fulfilling
lives. Most surgeons perform one type of knee replacement with one type
of prosthesis (component). Dr Allison believes that every patient is
different. Male and female have different shapes to their bone. People
with arthritic knees are of different ages, different activity levels,
and have different expectations. We don’t all drive the same cars, do
the same activities, or wear the same clothes. There’s no reason to
believe that the same operation done with the same components would be
right for all patients. Dr. Allison tailors each knee replacement based
on the patients individual needs, activity level, and expectations. It
is this level of attention to detail that makes the difference in your
care. The following pages will explain some of the differences in types
of components and approaches.
